My requirements are simple and straight forward:
- Your dog MUST be completely non-aggressive to other dogs. I cannot accept a dog in to my home who shows any aggression toward other dogs. There are often multiple dogs here and aggression cannot be present.
- Your dog must not be aggressive to people. Not only will I and my assistant be interacting with your dog, but there are often other owners coming to either drop off or pick up their dogs. Your dog must not be aggressive.
- Your dog must be non-destructive.
- I need to meet you and your dog before booking a stay with me for the first time. This is both to meet you and your pup in person but also to get a feel for his overall demeanor.
- Your dog must be up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations including kennel cough (bordetella). (Proof of vaccinations is required – please see required Forms.)
- Your dog must be on one of the chemical flea /tick preventives.
- Your dog must be reasonably housebroken. (I occasionally accept un- or partially-housebroken puppies but please see the FAQ for more information about that.)
Policies:
- We must have a “Get-acquainted visit” before your dog stays with me. Because your dog becomes part of my family, I would like to meet you and your pet before their stay. I need to know all I can about your dog prior to boarding. It is important for me to know his/her personality, likes, dislikes, and tendencies.
- No dog with with aggressive tendencies (boundary aggression or toward dogs or humans) can be boarded.
- PLEASE NOTE that you are boarding your dog in my home, not in a kennel. There will be other dogs here. While exceedingly uncommon here, injuries can occur from dog to dog interactions and I cannot be responsible for them. All dogs in my home are screened first and supervised, but ultimately, they are still dogs. K9kabs will not be responsible for any scrapes/cuts/bruises/etc that occur while here or after your dog leaves.
- Should your dog cause harm to another dog, you will be solely and fully responsible for all veterinarian fees which result. Additionally, any veterinarian fees resulting from any other negative behavior will also be the sole responsibility of the owner.
- No dog with destructive behavior can be boarded.
- I reserve the right, at my discretion, to kennel any dog exhibiting aggressive behavior that I deem unsafe to other boarding pets and handlers. Such kenneling will be done off premises and the cost and expense shall be the sole responsibility of the pet owner.
